Rules: Boats may weigh two fish. Regular tournament is weight of your heaviest fish. Calcutta is combined weight of your two fish. Determination of winners for Juniors, Seniors and Ladies is the single heaviest Kingfish weighed by your boat. It is not necessary that the senior, junior or lady angler catch the winning fish.
The Calcutta auction follows the Captain's Meeting, with the highest bid winning the boat. If you're outbid, Calcutta Insurance guarantees you half of the pot. The other half goes to the high bidder. If your boat is not sold, the Calcutta Insurance is forfeited and does not replace a bid.
Class Determination: Open Class is any boat with no length or power restrictions. Small Boat Class is any boat with a manufacturer’s length designation of 25 feet or less. Any size boat may enter the Open Class but boats over 25 feet may not enter the Small Boat Class. You are not allowed to enter both classes.
Start: Boats may depart from any port but may not start fishing until 5:00 AM. VHF channel for the tournament will be 68.
Weigh-in begins at 2:00 PM and all boats must be in line at the marina for
weigh-in not later than 7:00 PM. In the event of a tie, the earliest weigh-in time for the heaviest fish, the combined weight of two fish (Calcutta), or the weight from the side pots will determine the winner.
Fishing Methods: Rod & Reel only. No electric reels, hand lines, spear guns, harpoons or other methods allowed. All weighed fish will be returned to the boat after weighing.
Caution: Nothing may be passed between boats or between a boat and land during the event. In an on-water emergency, you may render aid to the stricken boat without penalty, but the boat needing aid will be disqualified. Any such case will be considered by the judges and their ruling is final.
Protests: This is a fun event for a good cause, and we ask each angler to be on his/her best behavior. In the event a protest must be lodged you will be required to submit the protest in writing to the judges. Their decision to accept the protest or to follow through with it is final. Protests must be submitted in writing and will be reviewed by the judges. If the protest is accepted, the protester and/or the winner may be required to submit to a polygraph test at the protester’s expense. Winners may also be subject to a polygraph to assure compliance with the rules.
Captains Choice: This is a Captains Choice event, meaning it is up to each Captain to participate or not based on weather conditions. The event may not proceed if sea conditions require a small craft advisory or if the Tournament Director deems weather conditions unsafe. The Tournament Director will make a final decision regarding event cancellation or postponement due to weather conditions at or before the Captain's Meeting. If Saturday is not possible then the event will be held on Sunday. If Sunday’s weather is also bad, then the event may be postponed or cancelled at the discretion of the Tournament Director.
